Type of Hits in the Berimbau
TICK: While the arame is struck with the baqueta, cabaca is held and pressed against the body and the dobrao/coin is slightly pressed against the arame. The hit should be right on top of the height we hold the dobrao/coin.
DIM: While the arame is struck with the baqueta, cabaca is moved away from the body and the dobrao/coin is pressed hard against the arame. The hit should be right on top of the height we hold the dobrao/coin.
DOM: While the arame is struck with the baqueta, cabaca is moved away from the body and and the dobrao/coin is NOT pressed against the arame at all. The hit should be just underneath the height we hold the dobrao/coin.
Type of Hits in the Atabaque
TIP: Hit the tip of the drum with your fingers closed – not the palm-.
CENTER: Slap the center of the drum with your 3 fingers and your palm open.
