Escorpiau

Description:

It is used in order to kick the opponent -usually in close type of games eg. angola – and is like the scorpion kick in other martial arts.  It is executed by kicking backwards, over the head. This kick requires great flexibility.

Instructions:

  1. From the position of Queda De Rins support your body weight with your one hand on the floor
  2. Bring your opposite leg above your head and kick.
  3. Your head and your watch should be at the opponent’s side.

Important!

Balance your body on your leg and twist it to the kicking side in order to kick effectively.

 

Chapa

Description:

It is used to kick the opponent, push him/her away – straight kick. It can be executed with front or back leg.

 

Instructions:

  1. Bring your feet to parallel position
  2. Lift your foot – the one following your bodys’ motion
  3. Kick straight – not in a circular motion
  4. Return to ginga position by rewinding the following steps

Important!

When kicking, swap your hands to the opposite position in order to maintain balance.

 

Au (close)

Description:

It is used to move around / avoid / confuse the opponent /start a new move/-mostly used in close games in order to protect the body.

Instructions:

  1. Bring your feet to parallel position
  2. Place your one hand to the floor
  3. Lift your body and place both hands to the floor
  4. Bring your foot near your chest to protect your body
  5. Step with one leg following the other and stand up
  6. Return to ginga position

Important!

Look the opponent when you execute the cartwheel

Tesoura

Description:

It is a takedown movement, performed from usually after a Queda De Rins. The capoeirista moves towards his opponent with the legs in “scissored position”, making him/her to try to escape.

Instructions:

  1. Support our body on our elbows with the hands on the floor and balance.
  2. Open the legs in scissored position , turned and looking the opponent from one side.
  3. Move towards the opponent and try to catch him/her.

Important!

Always look the opponent.

Στηρίξτε το σώμα σας στους αγκώνες με τα χέρια στο πάτωμα και ισορροπήστε. Ανοίξτε τα πόδια σαν ψαλίδια , γυρίστε από τη μία πλευρά και κοιτάτε τον αντίπαλο. Κινηθείτε προς τον αντίπαλο.  

Rasteira

Description:

It is used to sweep the opponent’s foot.

Instructions:

  1. Duck under the kick and go to the floor facing same direction as kick goes
  2. Hook the opponent’s standing foot with your leg that follows body motion
  3. Pull the opponent’s standing foot
  4. Return to ginga position

Important!

Hook well and pull straight in order to make the opponent lose the balance.
Protect your head with your hands.

Martelo

Description:

It is used to kick the opponent – side  kick targeting opponent’s head / side. It can be executed with front or back leg.

Instructions:

  1. Bring your feet to parallel position
  2. Lift your leg at your side– the one following your bodys’ motion
  3. Kick opponent’s side
  4. Return to ginga position by rewinding the following steps

Important!

When kicking, swap your hands to the opposite position in order to maintain balance.

 

Bencao

Description:

It is used to kick the opponent – front kick, pushing straight. It can be executed with front or back leg. Impact to the opponent can vary and can be hard to avoid.

Instructions:

  1. Bring your foot to parallel position
  2. Lift your foot
  3. Push with all your body and kick straight – your body should lean back
  4. Return to ginga position

Important!

When kicking, swap your hands to the opposite position in order to maintain balance.
While kicking keep your leg straight in order to increase kicking power.

Esquiva Lateral

Description:

It is used to avoid kicks. It can be side or to the back.

Instructions:

  1. Bring your foot to parallel position
  2. Turn yoour body to the side
  3. Maintain one leg straight and the other bent
  4. Return to ginga position

Important!

Protect your face with your hands.
Maintain your body straight.

Resistencia

Description:

It is used to avoid kicks. It is to the back and near the floor.

Instructions:

  1. From the ginga position , lean forward.
  2. Go down, benting your legs and having them closed and your hands close to your body.
  3. When near the floor go back, placing both hands on the floor
  4. Stand up and  return to ginga position

Important!

Protect your face with your hands.

 

 

Cocorinha

Description:

It is used to avoid kicks. It is defense straight down .

Instructions:

  1. From the ginga position , lean forward.
  2. Go down, benting your legs and having them open.
  3. When near the floor , place one hand on the floor and protect your face with the other
  4. Stand up and  return to ginga position

Important!

Protect your face with your hand.
